Welcome to the Show!

Welcome to the show! My name is Jaclyn, and I am so excited you have found my blog. I have been writing music reviews for my university’s art and design magazine since 2021 and I am happy to have my own space to write. This first post is a bit informal so you can get to know me better and what I love to do.

Music photography has fascinated me since I went to my first concert in 2015. Seeing the photographers move around to get the images of the artist and then seeing them later social media was so amazing to me. I knew it was a tough industry to get into, so I didn’t hold much hope as to pursue it as a career. When I entered college in 2020, my professors saw I had a passion for it and assisted in getting me a press pass for Dwight Yoakam at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet, IL. After that, I was hooked. I knew this is something that I wanted to try to continue doing. I then found a workshop with David Bergman, and I signed up right away. With only having shot one concert before, I grasped all the knowledge that he shared and took notes through the whole workshop. I could not believe the images and knowledge I was able to walk away with. From then on, I worked to get into as many concerts as I could, mostly country music, and build my connections while I am in college.

My photojournalism skills have grown and advanced the more that I have written, so I am thrilled to have my own outlet to share my writings, especially after I graduate. For every concert I have had the honor of photographing, a music review has followed. All my reviews have been published on the COMP Magazine, which is the University of St. Francis Art and Design magazine.

The goal of this blog is to share my music reviews and images, what I have learned through my journey, and some of my favorite and least favorite images. I have learned so much through my 2 years in music photography and I am so excited to continue shooting. I hope you stick around to see what I continue to do within my music photography journey.
